About this service
It's free
StrikeMyData is a free service. There is no charge, no paid tier, no ads, and no upsell. Nobody will ask you for payment details, and the service never sells, shares or rents your information to anyone.
What it does, and doesn't do
It sends a deletion and opt-out request in your name to the data brokers you choose, using the rights California law gives consumers, and it helps you track responses and recheck dates. It can't force a company to comply, can't remove public records such as court filings or property records, and can't complete web forms that require CAPTCHAs, phone calls or ID uploads. Those are listed on your dashboard so you can finish them yourself.
Results aren't guaranteed. Listings often reappear, which is why the tracker schedules rechecks.
How your information is protected
Everything you enter about yourself is encrypted with a key that is unlocked by your password. The service stores neither your password nor that key, so the stored data can't be read without your password, including by whoever runs the server. While you're logged in, the unlocked key is held in the server's memory only, and it's discarded when you log out or after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Two consequences worth knowing. If you forget your password, your stored information can't be recovered, and you'll need to create a new account. And the requests themselves necessarily send your details to each broker you select, which is how they find and delete your records.
You can permanently delete your account and everything stored with it at any time from My information.
Not legal advice
This service is a tool, not a law firm, and nothing here is legal advice. The request template is a general form; if you have a specific legal concern, talk to a lawyer. It is provided as is, without warranties of any kind.
